Soups after a birth › Any time
Roasted rice tea with dried fig and walnut
“Any time at all. Keep your stomach warm.”
What the tradition says
Practitioners state that this is 滋陰益腎、潤腸通便, that it nourishes yin, benefits the kidney and moistens the bowel.
After a caesarean
炒米茶 is started only once the doctor permits after a caesarean; vaginal-birth mothers may start immediately.
