The small spindle-shaped root of Pseudostellaria heterophylla, sold as slender pale-yellow dried roots a few centimetres long. The mildest of the ginseng-style roots, it gives broth a light, clean sweetness and needs only a rinse before the pot.
Nature · neutral Flavour · sweet、bitter Meridians · spleen、lung
Known in the trade as the children's ginseng, Cantonese food therapy uses it as a gentle qi tonic to strengthen the spleen, moisten the lungs and open the appetite, mild enough for children's pots.
A rinse is all it needs.
