牛油
Butter is the soul of café toast and of 菠蘿油: 奶油多 is hot toast buttered and drizzled with condensed milk, and 菠蘿油 is a fridge-cold slab of salted butter inside a hot pineapple bun. It is also the white sauce under baked pork chop rice, the borscht and the last spoon in black pepper sauce, though the shop mostly uses margarine. On the Australian shelf, butter block (Western Star Salted, for example, 500g) is the real block, and spreadable is butter cut with canola oil: fine on toast, but use the block for 菠蘿油 and for cooking.
