Golden syrup

The golden, thick cane-sugar syrup squeezed over Hong Kong French toast at the café, poured with the butter while the toast is hot. On the Australian shelf it is golden syrup (CSR, for example), and that is the café taste; maple syrup is a different flavour and not a stand-in. Without it, homes pour condensed milk or honey.
Preparation
Pour it over the French toast while it is hot.
