Peanut butter

Peanut butter has two places in the café: inside French toast (the Kowloon habit) and as the 醬 in 奶醬多 (奶 is condensed milk, 油 butter, 醬 peanut butter, 占 jam), plus a teaspoon in the satay sauce for beef noodles for fragrance and body. The café uses smooth; every Australian supermarket has it, smooth or crunchy, and the sweeter American style also works.
Cautions: read first
- Contains peanut, a mandatory-declaration allergen in Australia and one of the commonest severe allergens, so ask before serving to children; some brands are made on lines that also handle tree nuts.
Preparation
Spread a layer between the two slices for French toast; a teaspoon loosened with water for satay sauce.
